The Police of the Republic of Mozambique, abbreviated as PRM, is a public body and paramilitary force integrated in the Ministry of Interior created under Law 19/92 of 31 December.
Article 2, paragraph 1 of the law in question determines as functions the guarantee of public order, security and tranquility; respect for the rule of law, strict observance of the fundamental rights and freedoms of citizens.
However, it is an institution with a tarnished image in society due to the high levels of corruption perpetrated by its agents in the exercise of their functions and beyond, a fact that goes against the ethical-deontological principles that guide the organization.
