The debate on the need for the Mozambican government to renegotiate the contracts signed with mega projects* so that they no longer have tax incentives is old, is widely documented and remains on the agenda. Over the past twelve months, voices from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank (WB) and internationally renowned economists have joined the chorus made by Mozambican institutions, researchers and academics, with emphasis on the Center for Public Integrity (CIP) and the Institute for Social and Economic Studies (IESE), which for several years have been defending the renegotiation of mega-project contracts, without any response from the Government.
