This Session, and, by the way, the last of the Assembly of the Republic (AR) for the current year, is about to end. However, it seems that the effective fight against corruption will continue to be weakened, with the probable non-approval of the Penal Code (CP). The excuse that will be presented is the recurrent one, that is, the lack of time to hold the debate that precedes the approval of an important legal instrument, such as the CP.
The arguments related to the lack of time to debate and approve the CP, remember, come from the year 2011, where in the first parliamentary session for the year in question, this justification was raised. At the time, the complexity and extent of the proposed law and the need for public consultations to postpone the approval of the document were also invoked.
