The Penal Code (CP) recently approved in the specialty by the Assembly of the Republic (AR) will finally consider as criminal offenses the acts of corruption provided for in the international conventions to which Mozambique is a party.
To this end, Mozambique ratified the Protocol of the Community for the Development of Southern Africa against Corruption – Resolution no. 33/2004, of 9 July; the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption – Resolution no. 30/2006, of 2 August and the United Nations Convention against Corruption – Resolution no. 31/2006, of 26 December (2006) which they recommend to States Parties to consider certain acts of corruption as criminal offences.
