Public Finances in Mozambique Continue to Plunge into Penumbra – Lack of Transparency Prevails

The Minister of Economy and Finance (MEF), Adriano Maleiane, made public, on February 21, informing that a meeting with creditors is scheduled for March of this year to restructure the public debt.

The Minister added in his interview that over time the country has been working on a strategy to bring the public debt to sustainable levels and that there are currently conditions to go to London to discuss with creditors.

According to the same source, at this meeting, which is expected to take place in the second half of March, the discussion should be around 17% of the debt stock, which corresponds to 50% of the total debt service.
