LACK OF MEDICINES IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PRECARIOUSNESS OF PHARMACEUTICAL LOGISTICS

Two years have passed since the publication of the first Note[1]of the CIP that raised the challenges in the hospital pharmacy sector and the logistics of medicines that contributed to the non-availability of drugs to patients of the National Health Service. Last year (2017) the CIP returned to the warehouses visited in the 2015 survey and not found substantial improvements in terms of sector efficiency, particularly at the district and hospital pharmacy (Health Units) levels.

The lack of medicines in the Mozambican Health Units remains an alarming problem and far from being overcome. The Ministry of Health (MISAU) has been involved in justifications that there are improvements in the supply of essential medicines to the various Health Units, however, during the monitoring work in the Health sector carried out by the CIP, it was found that a large number of users of the public service still does not receive the prescribed drugs in the right amount and at the right time
