Journalism is recognized for the role it plays in promoting the values of democracy, namely good governance, transparency, integrity, human rights and the fight against organized crime. There can be no democracy without journalism, given its role as a supervisor of violations of the values of democracy.
In this context, the Center for Public Integrity (CIP) in partnership with MISA-Mozambique decided to establish the National Prize for Investigative Journalism as a way of awakening the interest of the media in aspects related to democratic values, such as governance, integrity, transparency, for issues related to the extractive industry, human rights and organized crime, and other issues that are relevant.
