The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) announced this Thursday, 31 October, that it has completed the restructuring of EMATUM's debt, with approval by the Attorney General's Office and by the Administrative Court of the terms agreed with the creditors. In practice, it means that the Government will resume payment of EMATUM's debt service from March 15, 2020, despite the fact that it was declared void by the Constitutional Council and evidence is accumulating that part of the debt money was used to pay bribes to political elites, including the Frelimo party.
