The witness presented, among several documents, text messages exchanged between the former head of state and the executive of Privinvest, who is considered the brains behind the hidden debts and is being tried by the American Government.
Messages were exchanged between March and April 2016, an important period in the history of hidden debts. In March 2016, the Government of Filipe Nyusi restructured EMATUM's debt, transforming the State guarantee issued to guarantee the debt securities contracted by EMATUM into sovereign debt.
