On April 24, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved a loan of USD 309 million under its financial instrument Rapid Credit Facility (RCF) to help Mozambique address the urgent balance of payments and fiscal needs arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.
At a meeting held on April 22, 2020 between IMF and civil society organizations (CSOs) from Africa, where CIP was one of the invited organizations, one of the points mentioned was the role of CSOs in monitoring the funds made available to fight COVID -19 that should be applied in the health and social sectors.
Hence, to ensure effective monitoring of these resources, it is necessary for the Government to formalize a space in which civil society has a sufficient role to have access to all detailed information on planning and execution in good time and be able to participate in sessions consensus on the mechanisms to be adopted.
