Direct adjustment in hiring contractors for the rehabilitation of schools: Government decision carries high risks of corruption

The Government decided that the hiring of contractors for the rehabilitation of more than 600 schools, with a view to preparing the resumption of classes in the context of covid-19, will be by direct adjustment. The justification is that there is urgency in the works that should take between 60 and 90 days, as said today at a press conference, Nilton Trindade, National Director of Water Supply and Sacramento. CIP recognizes the need for urgent rehabilitation of schools but disagrees with the option for direct award as this represents a high risk of corruption.
