A criminal investigation judge at the Maputo Province Judicial Court validated and maintained the preventive detention of the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) agent and two other men accused of raping a minor under 13 years of age. They are Idílio José Moreira, SERNIC agent in Maputo province, Jusidino Leonardo Chambisse and Shelton Vanildo Arlindo Cumbe, both students. The judge sent Edmilson dos Santos in peace and freedom, due to insufficient evidence of his involvement in that heinous act, while two defendants, Cláudio Júlio Mateus and Charles Mauaie, are considered fugitives from justice. The case was denounced by the press and by the Public Integrity Center (CIP).
