The health professionals class presents an increased risk of contamination by COVID-19 related to the high exposure to which they are exposed in their work environment. In recent months, the country has seen an increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 among health professionals. In the country's reference hospital alone, the Maputo Central Hospital (HCM), 375 cases of COVID-19 were reported, of which 29% (110) occurred in the medical profession, which immediately refers to the beginning of isolation that culminates in a reduction in 28% of emergency room of medical teams for patient care. With the healthcare structure overloaded, “Health professionals are sick and those who continue to work are exhausted” says the MSF (Doctors Without Borders).
This situation calls into question the capacity of hospitals to respond to the provision of health services, increasingly deteriorating the structural inefficiency of the sector.
