Budget execution in 2020 was marked by the atypical national and international situation, marked, among other things, by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the attacks in Cabo Delgado and the central region of the country and the occurrence of cyclones in the central region. This scenario led the executive to review the State Budget for 2020.
The management of the pandemic highlighted the structural weaknesses of the Mozambican health sector, expanding the need for a more comprehensive and efficient supply of health services. At the same time, it brought the need for safe water sources and adequate sanitation conditions, aspects considered essential to contain the spread of the virus.
The assessment of the Budget Execution Report (REO) 2020 shows that, despite state revenues having exceeded the target's 100%, the fiscal policy objectives, announced by the Government at the time of the budget law, were not fully implemented throughout the fiscal year. . With great dissatisfaction, the analysis noted that the REO 2020 does not present information from the economic and social sectors, as in the previous documents.
