After the end of on-site classes in mid-2020, the Government announced the availability of a fund of 3.5 billion meticais for the construction and rehabilitation of toilets and water supply sources in public schools and teacher training institutes, as a means of to contain the spread of the new coronavirus among students and teachers. Classes resumed, but in July, the Government again suspended classroom classes in the country's main cities, alleging an increase in the number of positive cases of COVID-19 in the country.
