The Council of Ministers, at its 22nd ordinary session, considered and approved, among other matters, the decree that amends articles 4 and 55 of the regulation of petroleum operations, approved by Decree no. 34/2015 of 31 December.
The amendment to the articles aims, on the one hand, to exempt international concessionaires from registering on the Mozambique Stock Exchange (BVM), this obligation being the responsibility of national concessionaires, and, on the other hand, given the devaluation of the Metical, to update the value equal to or greater than 40,000,000.00 MT, required for the purposes of a public tender for the performance of petroleum operations, for 80,000,000.00 MT.
Consequently, the decisions of the Council of Ministers raise some important questions for the debate on the effectiveness of the decisions taken.
