With the approval of the proposed revision of the Statute of Judicial Magistrates by the Assembly of the Republic (AR), judges will be able to provide in this legal diploma some provisions that specifically aim to protect their life and physical integrity or from threats of injury to these two fundamental rights for the exercise of their functions. It should be noted that even at a time when there was no specific legal instrument, magistrates were provided with due protection whenever necessary. For example, at the time of the trial of the “Caso Cardoso”, Judge Augusto Paulino was exceptionally granted special protection. The same happened during the trial of the “BCM case” with Judge Achirafo and, more recently, happened with Judge Dimas Marrôa, during the judgment of the “Case dos Aeroportos de Moçambique”. And it was not necessary that, a priori, there was any specific legal instrument for this to happen.
