The implementation of the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative in Mozambique also makes a modest contribution to improving governance in the sector. Since the country was considered compliant in October 2012, very little has been done in terms of improving the placement of information in the public domain and accountability, as well as in the government's role in managing the sector.
