In a press release, Total SA announced that it has finalized the acquisition of Anadarko's stake in the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project in Mozambique. Anadarko held 26.5% of the Mozambique LNG project.
The acquisition of the 26.5% of Anadarko by Total is expected to generate for Mozambique, still in 2019, revenues from capital gains of USD 880 million. It should be noted that the acquisition of Anadarko took place in two stages. The first moment refers to the acquisition of Anadarko by Ocidental and the second moment refers to the acquisition of Anadarko by Total SA (to Ocidental). However, it is not clear so far what treatment will be given to the respective operations and on which of the transactions the rate of 32% will be charged.
Additionally, the intended use of these revenues is questionable, there are expenses that should not be covered with extraordinary revenues.
