The project to protect the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) that gave rise to the hidden debts was not thought of by the Government of Mozambique. Jean Boustani told the Court this Monday that after holding a meeting in Maputo where investment opportunities were presented to him, he thought it would be a good idea to invest in protecting Mozambique's long coastline.
“I met Teófilo Nhangumele and his partner Rosário Mutota. I remember that there was a meeting prepared at the Ministry of Science and Technology, with the minister. I was asked to be the focal pointt to present various opportunities. They took me to the minister and I spoke about the opportunities in Mozambique,” said Boustani.
