Um Olhar ao 8º Relatório da Iniciativa de Transparência na Indústria Extractiva : – Moçambique corre risco de ser suspenso da iniciativa por falta de correcções previamente exigidos pela EITI

The Government, through the Technical Secretariat for the Implementation of the EITI, publicly presented the 8th Report on February 28, 2020.

An analysis made by the CIP to the 8th report shows that Mozambique is not in a good pace of compliance with the requirements of this initiative and this compromises the country's continuity in this initiative.

The third (3rd) validation of Mozambique to ensure continuity in the EITI is scheduled for April 2021. The base document for the 3rd validation will, in principle, be the 8th report. Looking at the report in question, if the assessment were made today, Mozambique would likely be suspended from the EITI as many of the recommendations under analysis remain unfulfilled, which compromises the Government's commitment to transparency in the governance of natural resources.
