The Center for Public Integrity (CIP) presented the first edition of the Extractive Sector Transparency Index for the years 2019 and 2020 (ITSE 2019-2020), whose fundamental objective is to promote the transparency of companies in the extractive sector in Mozambique.
Following the first edition, CIP presents the second edition of the ITSE 2020-2021, based on a ranking of companies in the mining and oil sectors, regarding the availability of information, taking into account fiscal, social, governance and environmental aspects. CIP expects ITSE to be a tool for analyzing the level of transparency of this sector for the country, in general, and for companies, in particular. Additionally, it is hoped that this will be a tool that will serve to encourage companies in the sector to provide more information, and in a detailed manner, and thus contribute to greater transparency towards good governance of the extractive sector in Mozambique.
